Hi,
I try to make a little songbook for my choir with lilypond-book. There
are two questions from me:
1. I use a main file "bkc_lieder.lytex" with lines like
\lilypondfile[line-width=17.0\cm]{mit_frohsinn_und_gesang.ily}
but I would prefer something like
\def\opt{line-width=17.0\cm} %
After upgrading my Ubuntu Linux I get the following message (lilypond

Unfortunately, this version / path / fonts / environment stuff is not
my strong point. Good luck!

This sounds like some weird problem with some font file. I seem to
remember that there were some similar problems
in some distributions of version 2.6 or possibly version 2.8
but not in any of the 2.10 packages available at www.lilypond.org.
I hope you have made sure that you really use version 2

I am running Lilypond 2.2.2 and am trying to generate a latex document.
I have set the following environment variables:

Thanks, all, for the suggestions!
I've downgraded back to 2.0.3, but am incorporating lots of the changes
you all suggested so that a later transition to 2.2.2 will be
more smooth.

Helping is easier than you might imagine and it usually is quite
rewarding. It only costs some time and some determination. See

PS. I love Lilypond, but the manual is really awful. You really need
to write it with a user/reader who has no programming experience in mind.

The original problem you mention (that preLilyPondExample didn't
work) is a bug in version 2.2.0-2.2.2 and will be fixed in 2.2.3.
In the mean time, you can find several examples of workarounds in
the mailing list archives, for example

Hey everyone,
This is a two part problem -- the problem before the upgrade and the
problem after the upgrade.

if that would fix a problem that I was having with Lilypond-book. I am
creating a songbook with many songs (I use
I'm a little confused - I do have a \paper command in my ly file.
