Please point me to the most useful page
If you run
lilypond -ddelete-intermediate-files --png $your-filename
you will get a png file as a result.
However I don't know how you can control its output size/resolution.
If you run LilyPond and pass it the -dpreview option on the command line
it will give you a nicely cropped pdf and png
