Hello,
I saw this thread from 2006, and it seems like there was some
interest for adding the functionality for setting even and odd page
margins. Did this ever get sponsored/implemented? If not, is there still
interest in it getting sponsored/implemented?
Thanks,
Jonathan
Is there any way to get a different left margin on even and odd pages?
I'm trying to make room for the binding without giving up any space on
the outside of the leaf.
Thanks
Steve

Hi, Rick:
the key element is still that an opened book always has "mirrored
margins".
Of course.
I suppose if you glue bound the pages on a stiff spine then
you would need more room for the arc created out of the spine.
This is actually what I was talking about: Bringhurst says you need
ble in

better than rubber based binding glues. (hell it can hold your drywall on
too)

Hi, Rick:
With the wider margin always falling on the binding spine.
Just for the record...
According to essentially every example in Robert Bringhurst's amazing
book, "The Elements of Typographic Style", the internal (spine)
gutter should be smaller than the outside (page edge) margin. [
ite each other. This way when you
spiral bind the pages there is always room for the spral hole punches. With
the wider margin always falling on the binding spine.
(I have had a learning curve difficulty with using book myself)
Good idea!
