I can confirm that 2.16.0, at least, works with 10.7.4.
As far as building the binaries, however, my experience has been negative. I
have been unable to compile LilyPond on my machine, either manually or using
homebrew. I have reported the issue on the devel list

For the life of me, I have been trying to make the LilyPond man pages
accessible on MacOS. I am a reasonably experienced user of the Mac terminal
(Bash shell) but this seemingly simple challenge has defeated me. I have
tinkered with the /etc/man.conf file, tried the "manpa
