I do this kind of thing all the time: just use an arrow markup, disconnect it
from the spacing engine (there are a number of ways of doing this), and tack it
on to the repeat barline!

That is correct, however, I was going to try and load that extension manually

No, there was a reason I needed the fingerings on either side of the staff
(in my use case, sometimes there is an alternate fingering).
