I'm using Lilypond 2.6.4 (Windows XP native). Using the ancient notation
template (Section 3.5.1 of the manual) as a guide, I reproduced a six-voice
version of "Sumer is icumen in." The parts are marked Cantus I through IV
and Bassus I and II. Except for a neomensural-style time signature symbol
This assumes you know how to use cvsup and portupgrade, and know how
to build ports from source. If you don't, consult the FreeBSD handbook.
First, using cvsup update your ports tree.
Next run portsdb -uU, then pkgdb -F.
Use pkg_info to see if you already have:

teTeX-base
teTeX-texmf
gh

Just tried DynamicText with padding -- seems not to work.
Tried \once \override DynamicText #'extra-offset = #'( -9.0 . 9.0 ) e \sfz
