What is the preferred method to put meter marks at the beginning of a score?
Now I'm using something like this but I think it is not a very good
solution:
\markup{ \translate #(cons -9 -1) "" \bold "Vivace." }
Thanks,

Mats-
Thank you for your response. I'm sorry I didn't mention version

I also failed to correctly describe what I was using to obtain the
quotation marks. As mentioned in the manual (at least as I understand
it), one needs to use an underscore to start a quoted
You already gave the answer: lilypond-book!
I have often used it without a single word of ordinary text, just
to be able to combine a number of pieces in the same file with
the desired page layout. Read in the manual on how to be able to
use the ordinary titling from lilypond in your lilypond-book

Have you tried
``this syntax''
yet? This is the right way to do it in LaTeX and works well
in LilyPond as well.

Hi,
I poked the sources and the documenation, but I didn't find what causes
me sleepless nights :-)
Why are the fonts used by LilyPond named "feta" and "parmesan"?

That's a good suggestion, Mats, and one that I keep forgetting about. I'll experiment
with it on my machine and see if it would be less trouble than having my friend
remotely log into my server.
Thanks for you thoughts, and for your continued help for all the folks who ask
questions here.

Why not help your friend install the Cygwin version of LilyPond
on his Windows machine? Works like a charm!

The recommended solution is to use dvips + ps2pdf.
Don't forget to call dvips with the flags
dvips -Ppdf -u+lilypond myfile.dvi
The pdftex output format from lilypond has not been very actively
supported and it is not even included in the latest development
versions. Otherwise, it shouldn't be hard
