Hi,
LilyPond uses a python script that redirects to stderr in os.system ()
This breaks if /bin/sh happens not to be bash (why would anyone want
not to have bash there?), *and* the /dev directory does not exist.
$ ls -l /bin/sh /bin/bash
-rwxr-xr-x+ 1 root Geen 531968 Mar 13
Sounds like your working directory is not writable by your user. Run "ls -ld" to
show you the permissions of your working directory. If it is not owned by you,
perhaps you should change it or use a directory that is writable by you.

Hi all,
I was having problems with files I created in 1.6 of lilypond.
I converted them to 1.8 and most of them work.

I just installed Debian on an older box at home and I am having a problem
updating Lilypond. When I run apt-get install lilypond I receive the message
that Lilypond is already the newest version, but lilypond -v returns 1.4.12.
Can anyone help with this?
Thanks
David

Hi,
It is not a lilypond warning.
It is a warning issued by Python, a programming language used
to write the ly2dvi script. It gives warnings because you are
using the newest version of Python which already warns developers
for future changes.
It is best to just ignore it, and wait until the scri
