I can not find what is the source of the problem
compiling this Jazz song file.
Lilypond produces no error at all, it is when it
starts the Latex part that it crashes. I have no idea what can be wrong, because
I have other files with the same structure and all worked fine.
I am using 1.4

Dear Lilypond,
I've been working on the full orchestration of the
Magic Flute. Everything was going great until I got to
the violins. I was adding each instrument to the score
as I went and ran ly2dvi -P after each to help edit,
etc. But now I'm getting the error:
paper output to `MagicFlute.tex
The only problem with your attempt it that you changed the
padding of text scripts, but not of the multi-measure rests or
rehearsal marks that you wanted to affect.
Try
\property Staff.MultiMeasureRest \override #'padding = #3
or
\property Staff.MultiMeasureRest \override #'padding = #3

Hi all,
I don't know if this question was asked before, but how about having a
syntax for slurs like \slur{ c d e f g a b } ? Anyway, I don't think
it has to replace the current syntax, but I think would be really nice
to code slurs in that way.
Thanks,
Pedro Kroger

hi all,
i have a question. i know the musical distinction between a slur and a
tie; however when i was just transcribing a some music, i found that
lilypond doesnt seem to make a distinction:
\notes {
\time 4/4
c4 c4 c2 ~
c4 c2.
}
gives the same result as:
\notes {
\time 4/4
c4 c4 c2 (
)c4 c2.

I have a problem with beams in Lilypond 1.5.59. Consider this file:

\score {
\notes \relative g'' {
\time 6/8
g8 g, g' a a, a' | b b, b' c c, c'
}
}

Hello all,
thanks for the answers I received. I'm studying the manual, downloading
.ly files, but I want to know which is the common/natural/best way to do
something specific...
I'm typesetting many choir pieces with a chorus that is
going to be repeated and a long solo that goes over it.

For running LilyPond successfully you have to help TeX and
MetaFont find various files. The recommended way of doing
so is adjusting the environment variables in the start-up
scripts of your
