hello Trevor, try adding \remove "Forbid_line_break_engraver" to your context(s). You may want to add this as a default for all you're voices in \layout{ \context{\Voice \remove "Forbid_line_break_engraver" } } read 11.6.5 Proportional Notation in the manual. best, Victor.
