it's a cosmetic issue; since the script is invoked through the
wrappers in INSTDIR/bin/ it should not make a difference.

I had the same problem, and it resulted because I had forgotten to
install also the texfiles from texinfo. So there has to be done:
./configure, make, make install and make TEXMF=your/path tex-install.
