Do we, or can we, have UTF-8 encodings in python? I'll describe what
I'm doing below. The issue isn't whether I can do it on my system,
which I can, but whether CVS and the rest of our build environment
will preserve it if I submit a patch with a utf-8 encoded character in
a python string.

OK I'll re-think this one. But not just now as I'm just off to sing in a

Except that there's a piece of the patch to make chords work that
doesn't seem to have made it to 2.5. Patch attached

Hi all,
attached is a patch with changed mensural noteheads.
Some problems:
1. MensuralStaff sort of ceased to work for me - or, rather,
I was using it inaccurately. Roughly I wrote
\score {
\context MensuralStaff {

You should do whatever you think is best. I would like to share a
thought and some information. Before someone starts, she needs to
find out about lilypond, and be convinced that in
Hi all,
Contrary to what is reported on the Lilypond download page, 2.4.5 is not
in Debian Sarge. It's in sid, and apparently not scheduled to go into
Sarge. There probably won't be too many issues with using the Sid
package on Sarge, though...

Here is a working ebuild

cp lilypond-2.5.20.ebuild /usr/portage/media-sound/lilypond
cd /usr/portage/media-sound/lilypond
ebuild lilypond-2.5.20.ebuild digest
