Apparently, I'm not quite there yet. Using lilypond 2.4.5 works, but
the output text is jagged bitmaps, not smooth Postscript fonts. The
feta fonts are fine; it's just lyrics that are jagged.
Using the various tricks (dvips -Ppdf -u+lilypond.map
-u+ec-mftrace.map) don't change the output, excep

2. I find that fonts are not embedded in PDF output, but everything is
drawn as lineart. Is this OK?
I'm not sure what you mean.
I mean that there are no embedded fonts in the PDF, letters and symbols
are drawn as curves. Is it intentional, or a ghostscript limitation or a
bug?
Yes, t

I'm about to look at Lilypond 2.5.x on SuSE 9.2.
I note the prerequisites include pango 1.6 or higher - any experience or
concerns about using the latest version, pango 1.8.1, that could save me
frustration in getting that set up? Or should I stick with 1.6.x

I am running OpenBSD 3.3, which is too out of date for the development
efforts of Matt Jibson and Matthias Kilian. Therefore, I decided to
take on the task of updating all the required packages on my system,
and build lilypond myself.
Using gcc 3.4.3, and fairly recent versions of every required
OK, I tried latest CVS.
It seem to work, but there are issues to solve:
1. In build log:
checking for shared libkpathsea... wc: conftest: No such file or directory
no
Where should conftest be? Any other thing to do to make this shared
library usage work?
2. I find that fonts are not embedded in P

Duh. It replaces fonts with bitmaps of the characters that are
actually used.

I've just discover this compression format and it's great, realy beter
than pdf (don't know about printing capabilities, the site is in
english, and as you can read it's not an easy language for me...) but it
would be great to think about adding it to lilypond.

Han-Wen,
Another of all these quick bug fixes! Thanks for your hard work!
It would be great if you (and others who fix bugs in CVS) could also
send a reply to the original bug report that the problem has been fixed.

Yes, that RemoveEmptyStaffContext is a replacement only for the ordinary
