I tried running "make check" for libtool-1.4.2 under ia64
Linux (glibc-2.2.4) and got "14 of 83 tests failed". I
include the results below. For comparison under i386 Linux
I got "6 of 59 tests failed". If someone wants more details,
please just ask.

It is my understanding that relinking is not needed on elf
or Linux binary platforms. Further relinking actually gets
in the way when making binary packages, since "make install"
is usually installing into a buildroot.
What is the best way to go about fixing this? Some pointers
would be
Could something be done about all the spam coming to the
libtool lists? It's particularly bad on libtool-patches.
Perhaps that list list should be made postable to
subscribers only?

I dunno, but my understanding is that the 1.4 branch is
basically closed and that patches are only be accepted for
1.5 currently.
