by hand in config/ltmain.m4sh (the script
that appears to generate ltmain.sh in libtool-1.9f).

Early on, we found that shared libraries could not be built on MinGW using
the libtool approach. However a recent concentrated effort found two issues
whose solution solved the shared library

When he used the two patches above, he reports everything worked fine for the
PLplot shared library build so these patches are what we are going to
recommend for all our MinGW/MSYS users.
For what it is worth, I also tested the two patches on my Linux system
(Debian stable), and it did no harm, i.e.
have some experiments you would like me to try with the latest CVS
snapshot version of libtool please CC me since I am not currently subscribed

Here is the original problem report.
I have ifort 9.1 installed. With a clean plplot checkout and the latest
autotools (as recommended) plplot now fails to build
information, those tests have to come
after AC_PROG_LIBTOOL. There is another important change: by default,
the `libtool' script will only be created at the end of the configure
run. Use LT_OUTPUT to enable earlier build of the script.

Once the configure script worked properly, I followed with make, make
install, and a build and execution of our 96 test plot examples which gave
identical results to our standard PLplot tree (without your patch or mine)
and libtool-1.5.22.
This is
propagating a
