Consider replacing the locate/updatedb part of findutils with the mlocate
package from Red Hat, Inc.

OK, forget the keyboard thing. I just discovered that I managed to get a
couple of bogus lines into the inputrc file. Removing them fixed the
problem.

I have just completed my build of LFS 7.3, that is, just fixed my last
known problem, and have a working system that talks to the internet. I ran
into two problems that I believe were not of my own making.
1. Missing letters on the keyboard:

@Bruce, @Ken: Thanks for the replies. Swapping the IP and GATEWAY addresses
fixed the problem. And that's the final bug in my build. I'm now ready for
BLFS.
