Just realised, there was a line in my setenv.sh which read: echo "export LC_ALL PATH" >> ~/.bashrc which I copied directly from the hint. However in section 4.4 Setting Up The Environment my book says export LFS LC_ALL PATH I modified setenv.sh to reflect this and used echo "export LFS LC_ALL PATH"
