Sorry, I should have mentioned I'm working from svn-20050322 (actually I
started on 20050309 but the book gets updated faster than I can complete
all the steps!)
It shouldn't make a difference, but for the record the kernel on the host
system is 2.6.10 and on the new system 2.6.11, and I have grub

What kernel are you running when you get this error? The SuSE one or one you compiled
yourself? It may be unrelated but I g
I bought new hardware and I'm using the new hard drive as the target for a
new LFS. Until the new system is bootable, the drives are configured like
this:
hda1/boot
hda2/fat32 (Win98 install)
hda5swap
hda6/
hda7/var
hdb1/boot (currently mounted as /lfs/boot)

hi guys, i having problems with grub for LFS 6.0

Hi,
I'm running 6.1-testing-20050205 (essentially) with
lfs-bootscripts-2.2.3
At boot time I always get a failure

OK, that's just a nuisance since the system is really
fine and stable.
Many thanks for a hint,

Dear readers,
I think I have found the solution myself to the error I asked about.
It all depends on what editor one uses to edit the specs file when it
is edited by hand.
I used nano (sorry, but I'm new to linux and cannot handle vim or
emacs yet) and it divided the statement containing ld-li
I change the kernel and glibc and binutils version.

Hi Mukesh, I am unable to help you with your problem, however, if you had
the time, I'd like to know how to make a LiveCD. I've got LFS 6.0 working,
and I'm going through BLFS at the moment. Is there any documentation abot
how to make an LFS build into a LiveCD?
Thanks in advance, and I hope you g
Dear reader,
I am new to linux, so my question could be really stupid. I do
consider myself a poweruser when it comes to dos/windows, but linux
is just so different. I really wanted to get to know the innards of
linux, so I started building an LFS system. However, I have run into
a problem I c

It seemed that I did't have execute permissions on /mnt/lfs. After "chmod a+x
/mnl/lfs" it worked fine...
