If you convert the RPMS to tar.gz with rpm2targz then the tar.gz's will
unpack to /opt/openoffice.org2.0.

some notes about building the above apps...
I have a nice new xorg 7.0 and Firefox 1.5 with the system NSS/NSPR
install all working fine.
When I get to OOo is where the trouble starts...
OOo needs imake :-(
To build OOo I found that one has to install (at least) these xorg
