Hi Hauke,
I've tested a TP-Link TL-WR1043ND v2 and a TP-Link Archer C7 in the
meantime and everything works too. I couldn't notice any performance
regessions on these devices with my 200mbit internet connection but
they have a better hardware than the 1043ND v1.
Best regards
Sven

To answer my question, CONFIG_PACKAGE_kmod-usb-ledtrig-usbport=y was
missing! It's all good now!

Strange, because i actually do have in my .config:
CONFIG_DEFAULT_kmod-usb-core=y
CONFIG_DEFAULT_kmod-usb-ledtrig-usbport=y
CONFIG_DEFAULT_kmod-usb2=y
unless i am missing something else?

Hi Hauke,
I've tested kernel 4.9 with my TP-Link TL-WR1043N/ND v1 and everything
seems to work so far.
The only thing I've noticed is that internet speedtests with the build
from your ar71xx staging tree are slower (~130Mbit) in comparison to
the 17.01.3 release with kernel 4.4 (~197Mbit).
Thank

I guess so, the image for the WNDR3700v4 is the same as for the
WNDR4300v1. I can confirm the version from Hauke's staging tree works
on the latter, so it is likely that it will also work for the first too.
Arjen,
Correct, i just grabbed the 4.9 patches and compiled

Thanks.
I compiled kernel 4.9 for my old WNDR3700v2 and WNDR3800. Both routers booted
ok and seem to work ok at the first glance.
