I reverted XFCE color scheme dark to normal ... no trouble any more :-)
Example:
TStringGrid.AlternateColor := clMoneygreen -> unreadable with a dark
color scheme -> white font on white background,

With Debian KDE there was in KDE Settings an option to prevent gtk-Apps
using color-settings.
Perhaps an option in XFCE-Settings?
