By the way, one thing that stopped me installing on Win98 was Norton
Anti-Virus. Disabling it meant that LaTeX2HTML (version 99.2 beta 6)
installed properly.

I can't remember what default Ghostscript offered on install but I am sure
you can steer it away from program files. It must be possible because I
managed it!

install.bat to complete the installation.
As I've said before I'm not a Perl expert, so I can't guarantee this and
there are probably (definitely!) better ways of doing it.

Just an idea which is worth trying. There is the possibility that the
programs are objecting to the directory name C:\Documents and Settings which
is long, and more importantly, has spaces in it.
Try putting the tex docu

did you follow the ideas at

I only ask because many people have successfully managed to install using
them.

In particular, the Appendix section deals with the problem you are having.

etter solution, you reinstall latex2html
to c:\l2h or (as Luis Seidel suggests in
http://www.mayer.dial.pipex.com/l2h.htm) to c:\texutils\l2h.

ondly, I would look to see if the images
are being created but are in a different directory from that in which the
html file expects to find them.
But it's the screen output that is the key. If necessary increase the
verbosity level to get more information.

If this works then this would be a good workaround until the cause of
the problem is found. If it also allows long file names then that would
be fascinating.

Looking at your config.log it is clear that the configuration program
can't find anything that resides in C:\Program Files. So you have 2
options:
1. Try an older version of Perl as suggested by Ulrich Diez and
mentioned in my earlier message
ht
ries with short names ie 8 characters or less.
This would at least eliminate this as a suspect. In my case I have put
latex2html in d:\l2h and netpbm at d:\l2h\netpbm and d:\l2h\perl. Luis
Seidel at http://www.mayer.dial.pipex.com/l2h.htm uses c:\texutils\l2h,
c:\texutils\netpbm and c:\perl.
Also you might want to post config.log here in case someone spots
something odd in it.
It would be nice to nail this problem once and for all.

Otherwise it is a case of reading the instructions that come with both programs
