sure how that will affect things for LaTeX2HTML, but I thought things
just didn't float with LaTeX2HTML. So, I'm a bit surprised you had a problem
there.
Anyway, I guess someone else will have further advice.

If you get into this habit, you will find that those times when an expanded
macro butts up to following text don't happen anymore.

I think LaTeX2HTML just doesn't understand your usage. I'm not on a machine
where I can test that theory currently, but I hope the suggestions above
help.

itself with the following as top two lines:

Of course, if you have put html.sty where LaTeX can find it,
as per above, then there is no need to have a copy in the manual
