I just booted a QA-install of Xubuntu 18.04.3 LTS (final release-
candidate) and updated it, added `lubuntu-desktop` and `sddm` (sddm made
default). I used `adduser` to create another user, and rebooted.
At the sddm greeter, I could use mouse to pick my 'guiverc' user, 'qa-
user' or newly created

the dialog.
On re-entry, I can now see the first display - but it's long away, and a

Personally I'd recommend Debian for 32-bit machines, if you're unhappy
with the support 32-bit Ubuntu has. Yes Ubuntu is still supported with
the GNOME desktop, but flavors are now all EOL.
If your hardware is updated & using uEFI boot; you may discover you
cannot re-install Kubuntu 18.04.5 or oth
