Ok, so it turned out the fix upstream did was for qt6 only. It was above
my ability to backport to qt5 and the devs wouldn't. There does appear
to be a workaround here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=468240 I
am truly sorry.

So it's 2025. Related bug 2051041 was opened on 2024-01-26. Ubuntu noble
24.04 was even released with this known bug. A year later, and I still
cannot open my protected 7zip files. I really can't take *Ubuntu
distro's serious anymore for production. Regression is all over the
place.

Have verified the issue exists on a Noble install. plasma-workspace
packages were updated to the version in proposed. The plasma session
then starts correctly on login and plasma session appears on some
testing to run as expected.
