A couple of other conjectural rocking to and thro noise possibilities to ponder
especially since you have not really found anything visibly wrong internally:
1 Piston slap at bottom of bore. Always present though
2 Loose prop flange/hub
3 if not hand started, loose ring gear or snagged pi
