This being said, I have used both peel ply and Dacron. Dacron is
definitely harder to remove, but that is not much of a concern. The
surface they leave may be pin hole free, but not exactly smooth, since it
is a negative of the canvas structure, and canvas is not real

You're right, I should be able to get peel ply at "any glider repair shop
in France". The only trouble is, these are few and far between! So far, I
used neat Peel Ply with red tracers, leftovers from the composite workshop
