Wow, you experienced losing VW engines 4 times in middle air flying your KR, and you are still around telling us the stores Mr. Randall?! How did you manage to survive when you landed in the trees from one of your engine troubles? You are nothing short of amazing!! v/r, Dr. Hsu On Fri, Aug 18,

My interest is in gliders: minimum sink occurs just above stall. Longest glide is just above that. Years ago I took 82JM up high and shut the engine off. I generated a polar diagram which was published in the old KR newsletter. The two memorable things were best glide of 10 to 1 at about 80 mph

I know some people think that they need to know the angle of attack for glide and I guess that does help at times. But when you lose an engine you're going to find you're gonna start pushing that stick until you're flying again and then you're going to see what you're doing. I was not very good wit

I’m just thinking about that openly here so feel free to use this as a discussion point and work around it. But, The best glide speed is determined at the best l/d of the airfoil, which is at a specific to that airfoil angle of attack. It could be anywhere roughly around 2 to 5 degrees or more, aga

Sam, I need to program it into my garmin system. I have the old airfoil. If I program 8:1 it should be safe or do you say no no go for the 9:1? stef > Op 17-08-2023 23:02 schreef Samuel Spanovich via KRnet : > > > > Stef, > > > With N6399U (RAF48 airfoil, stock plans) I referenced a best

Stef, With N6399U (RAF48 airfoil, stock plans) I referenced a best glide speed of about 80-85mph solo, and about 85-90mph with two aboard. This gave me a glide ratio of “about“ 9:1. I am not sure what the glide speed/ratio would be on a KR2S with the AS504X airfoil, but I suspect it would be
