Thank you everyone that has responded ...your input has spurred me on to a
deeper understanding of what is happening here ...
I have now had another professional engineer review the WAF joint with the
following conclusions drawn for 3/8 bolts
Assuming that the coefficient of friction bet
I noticed that the both main spar and TE spar WAF bolts in my aircraft were
within recommendation (ie the thread was inside the WAF fitting) but this
meant that one end of the bolt had increased clearance in the WAF fitting
hole as the thread is a smaller diameter than the grip diameter of the bol

There should be NO movement at the wing tips unless you did not have the
nuts on as well. and tightened when you did this test??

Once the wings are bolted on, the play must be zero. If I understand you
correctly. Find the cause and correct it. I certainly suspect that the
bolt holes are too large and you will have to ream them out to the next size
up.

Just did a final(?) W & B before registering and hopefully flying the first
of my two, now allocated the rego 19 - 7814 . However.When we put the
wings on (for the first time in over 6 months) we noticed about 1 inch play
vertical at each wing tip . Fore and aft play seemed to be much less, to
