Sorry about the untrimmed post/ reply to Sam regarding his alternator
replacement. It was intended just for his reading. Nothing secret, just didn't
want to bother everyone with my questions...
As penance, I made a web page for anyone who wants to see the photos Sam sent

Sam,
That's the spirit of homebuilding! I can post photos on my site if you'd like
to share them. As well, Flesner uploads his to Dropbox.com and he posts the
links. Either way, I'd like to see your photos.

Folks, I solved my alternator problem today. Was a rather unusual fix, but
it solved my problem for a very low price (only about $50), and I can't be
more happy about that.
Background: 2100D alternator not charging shortly after engine rebuild. I
initially suspected my voltage regulator was bad

right now I rate my 2100D about 70 HP (bone stock except for MOFOCO 041
heads). More importantly than HP ratings however, I'm curious to see how
these changes affect my climbout performance, and also my static RPM on

A while back I posted regarding my Bendix D3000 magneto going out on me in
flight (R-side only). Long story short, it ultimately boiled down to
paying $1200-1400 to get the magneto an IRAN (not overhauled) or paying
just over $900 to buy a brand new dual ignition SDS electronic ignition

Luis,
YouTube can also be a great resource on rebuilding a VW. I reviewed several
videos before I did my Revmaster rebuild and while there were some differences
between and Standard VW and the Rev, they were very helpful.

Just some ramblings on the progress of my KR in Dallas...Today I start putting
my engine together after disassembly for cleaning and inspection. I purchased
some of the gaskets and seals locally. Love the new heads (Revmaster with
stainless seats and valves), Went back with the original pistons

I am considering purchasing a flying plane with a revmaster 2100d. Does anyone
have any thoughts or insights about this engine. I still need to get the s/n
from the owner. I believe it is 90's engine and it has around 300 hours on it.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the info. Glad to hear that revmaster tech support is reliable.
Do these engines come with service manuals and/or are they available from
revmaster. I'm an A&P so I am very familiar with the lycoming and
continental engines but I have no experience with the vw conversions.

Folks
Anyone interested in a zero-time Revmaster 2100D can contact
aquan...@indy.rr.com (David Esslinger), who has changed his mind about
trying to use one on a Pietenpol. He's now looking for an A65 if anyone has
a lead on one.
