Regardless of where you fly you'll want flaps or speed brake for drag in
the landing mode. With sufficient drag 2000 feet should be quite doable
for landing. I suspect your takeoff roll will be equal to or exceed
your landing requirement, depending on aircraft weight, obstacles,
condition
wer is
somewhat important.
With your 1835, higher base elevation and no configurable drag, 2000' would
probably be marginal. You didn't mention tail or nose wheel; that matters.
As does pilot weight. Just my 2 cents...

It makes me a little antsy to
Ken you really need to factor in at least a pilot (or very clever
passenger) unless you don't want the plane back. ;)
sorry

On a grass runway, what length of runway is comfortable for you to use? VW
1835cc 650 # airplane (without pilot and passenger). 1,200' altitude. No
flaps or belly board (belly board can be added). SW to NE runway (N & S
winds prevailing).

A big factor in grass strips is what kind of grass, and is it mowed
close or beat down almost flat by a lot of airpla
Joe, I can't tell you the length, cause I never measured it. But I can
tell you that a KR with 5 X 5 mains, conventional gear, really loves grass.
Certainly conventional gear is better for any uneven surface.
I landed on grass with both VW 2180 and Corvair 2700 and never had a problem
with it.
Trigear - VW 75hp takes less distance to land, more distance to take off due to
increased friction from the grass. 1500-2000 feet to take off. 1000-1500
landing.

My hanger is on a grass strip. Want to be able to take off and land at my
home field.
Thank you!
