For a quick answer, yes it will work. Others have done it. Troy Petteway
did it and with good results, I believe. I am sure others will give you
more information from experience. My KR2 was too far along when I found out
about the AS5046, so I have no first hand experience with it.

standard kr2 project that was given to me, the boat hull is complete and the
center spars have been glued in place the stab and elevators have been built
