Can some netters kindly explain why VW manuals give 7 deg BTDC and aero
conversions give 25 to 28 deg BTDC as the timing.?. How does one "tweak" the VW
to use 25 to 28 deg BTDC.?

Never saw that in a VW Manual. Just for kicks, I Googled "VW Timing", and
found this among many others
Twist the distributor body to set the timing. I usually set it somewhere
between 30 - 32 degrees BTDC (but no more than 32 degrees).
Use 25 or 28 depending on your Mag. You don't "Tweak"

The VW manuals give 7 degrees because their distributors have both a vacuum
and a mechanical adv
