Subject: Water temp gauge for Oil temp gauge

I have been using one for my bird for over 20 years and haven?t had any
problems, I calibrated it using motor oil, a candy thermometer, and a propane

The calibration may be off. Modifying one and comparing to a non modified
ones reading would prove or disprove the theory.You could have photo taken of
the face and change the color, paint the dial also.The bezel comes off fairly

Anyone know if there would be any issue with using a water temp gauge with
capillary tube for oil temp? The reason I ask is that I want to use a "Smiths
Dual Water Oil Gauge" and its hard to find black face gauges with white needles
