I just had a simular experience with my oil temp gauge. Flying along and
my oil temp went from 160 to zero. Shocked
me and started to check other gauges. Engine was running fine. All of a
sudden 170 oil temp. I have a sending unit
on order.

This evening was the first time I have had time to fly since Oct 10th. The
outside temp was 36 degrees when I took to the sky. Boy did she climb in the
cold air! Anyway, after takeoff and level at 3000 I scanned the gauges and
noticed my oil pressure was fluctuating from 60 to 80 PSI. Normally a
DUH ! if anyone should know the Corvair motor and its quirks, it certainly
should be you. What were you thinking ?
