I sure hope some #6 screw holes drilled into the spar cap aren't fatal to the spar. If they are, then I'd better go yank the wings off my plane and start on a new set. However, after over 700 hours in this plane, I'm thinking there wasn't any adverse effect. Jeff Scott N1213W __

I just saw on Darren Compton's site that he appeared to actually "screw" 2 X 4s to the spars. Would this not be damaging to the spars? Weaken them or set up a stress riser? Wayne and Kathy Tokarz Corsair Enterprises Ltd. Cold Lake, Alberta, 780-812-8163 780-639-3023

They are the size that fits the threads on the instruments. If you don't have instruments with threaded holes, then you get to use what you want. I have some of both. From: "Bob Glidden" List-Post: krnet@list.krnet.org Date: 2006/04/05 Wed PM 01:23:03 CDT To: "KRnet"

Bob Generally they are 6-32 but you might find metric if you get some of the cheap imports from China. The standard for new US manufacture is 6-32. Some of the older or larger instruments may be 8-32. Bob Lasecki KR2S in Chicago under construction Mitchell Aircraft Products, Inc.
