Connect the input to an o-scope. Remember the coil and capacitor act as an
oscillator. If the spark plugs are not easy to fire (possibly gapped too
wide or fouled), there will be multiple peaks in the voltage. It is a

Well, I tried one more thing, and it worked! I wrapped the "connection" in
aluminum foil and grounded it, in an effort to shield it from EMI, and now
it's accurate from idle to top RPM. I'll replace the foil with a nice
copper braid and run a wire to ground, so I
