I was very happy with my new toy - it worked fine in the car but

Hi Dene - Sorry, I can't recall. It was very much like the typical
Garmin hand-held before the moving map units came along. The model
number was one digit different from the otherwise identical aviation GPS
- something like x93 instead of x94.
There are a few reasons my plane cost as little as it did. One, I waited to
find a started project. I found a finished KR2S boat with spars, all
fittings, gear, wheels and brakes and all cables and EXP2 bus for only 500.00!
All
I had to purchase was glass and resin to finish the plane.
Bill, I bought a used Lowrance worldmap 1000 with a 5 inch screen for =

e-bay. The difference between it and the Avmap? Database that can be =

Oh yeh, forgot to mention Worldmap is a marine unit and as anyone knows
when the word aircraft is mentioned the price goes up 10 times.
I have a Lowrance now and it works a treat. My first attempt was also a
cost-saver, but it turned out to be a bad idea - check out the
non-avia

I've tested my eMap up to 140 MPH... umm... in an airplane. Yeah, that's it.
I'll stick with that story ;)

Some of the lower end handhelds are that way, especially the older =

This marine unit however is identical to the aviation unit with the =
minor
exception of marine navigation database instead of aviation which can =

Thanks,. Bill, for the info. Happy Landings.

Let me know when you make the move south. Right now I am using a Garmin
pilot III - great little gps for simple vfr navigation. Am buying it used.
Trying to keep my costs down. Bill
