What would be gained by using the aluminum flex plate instead of a hinge?

That's an interesting thought. It seems to work OK on the Zeniths. I would
think a glass skin would hinge every bit as well as aluminum and wouldn't
fatigue any worse. However, the "skin hinge" has the ability to actually move
