I have flown the HAPI engine for many years and found it to be very
reliable. My
Gary I’ve heard of the hot engine not wanting to crank.
But it was never the engine, it was the starter.
I’ve heard of a few Ford starters having this problem. I have not heard (
personally ) of a VW Starter having this issue.

think. A good place to get an idea is to take a look at what others

Where can these articles be found? You used to be able to order old
articles from the EAA, but the last time I looked, they no longer has any
pre-internet articles on its website.

Beginning in the December 1979 issue of Sport Aviation, Rex Taylor
published a series of articles detailing just about everything he did
when building up a HAPI engine. EAA's Sport Aviation archives is
probably a good place to start.

Hi all,
I'm pretty new to the group and hope there will be someone who can answer my
questions. I've a KR2 with 1835 HAPI which I've not opened up yet hence some
of the questions I'm asking.
1. Engine is low hours and quite tight - what max static RPM should I be
expecting with a 52 x 48 prop
