I have designed a two seater tandem for a competition a while back. The
material I designed for was Saligna. Excellent wood, very close to Spruce.
However, hard to find spar grade material.

I am North of the Limpopo (and the Zambezi) and I have been looking into
the woods that are available in our region.
I found reference to something called Saligna on one of the SA websites
- this was reportedly a very good substitute for Spruce /Oregon Pine
