The main gear legs for tricycle and conventional are different. They are
built at different angles.

Hi George,
A friend of mine had an engine out/wreck on a taildragger KR2 which broke both
of the Diehl main gears. I repaired it for him but in the process he wanted me
to switch it to a trigear. Obviously opposite to what you want to do. Yes you
just move the gear attach fittings to the front
Has anyone made this change with an existing Diehl type gear, and if so,
what problems did you have to solve?
The usual story is that it is "merely" a switch from right side to left,
and back to front of the main spar... but is it?
thanks,
George

Yes. Long ago one of my Sterbas was cut down from 54" to 52" and in fact

I have added lights to my KR. Does anyone know what the correct procedure is
to change my operating limitations from VFR day to VFR night? Is this
something I can do myself or do I have to contact the FSDO to get this changed,
and if so, do they come and do an inspection?

As for flying your KR at night, that will be directly related to
your confidence level in your KR and to your piloting ability.
At one of the Gatherings in Kentucky, some guy and his
girlfriend flew in from Florida at 3:00am in the morning. I had

If you are the builder and got a Repairmans license from the FAA, you have
the right to modify the aircraft and all you have to do is add appropriate
lighting per the FAR
You bring up an interesting point!
So if you upgraded your plane to a minimum IFR requirements, and have an FAA
Repairmans certificate, can you sign it off for IFR also???

Definitely not. The only thing the repairmans certificate entitles you
to is the condition inspection.
