You are right in that there is no Mode S transponder requirements in the USA.
But in Europe and some other countries, a Mode S transponder is currently
required for all flights. I'm sure our KR buddies in Holland, UK, Italy, or
other counties would know their specific requirements.

I tried floating the balls (peas) from my cheapo battery and antifreeze
hydrometers in mogasthey all sank to the bottom of the gas can. We will
have to look for futher for a ball to float in our fuel sight tubes.
