I'm looking at a lot of planes but have noticed the higher
cost of aircraft that are IFR certified. I know that the sky
is the limit on avionics equipment, but there must be some low
end ball park figure on the cost or value of radios to meet
the minimum IFR certified requirement. So my question is

Hard mounting an airplane is an easy mistake to make, but one

I'm sorry for the whine, I just thought my local insurance
company would break the news to me gently. The funny part is,
the broker seemed to think that I was getting the bargain of
the year. Let's all laugh heartily, I am too.

To all list members,
I'd like to first say thank you for all of your assistance and replies. I've
learned a lot about these aircraft in just a short time. As per your advice,
since I am a beginner pilot, I am trying to slow down and not make any rash
decisions regarding the KR planes and my non e
50's from the early sixties seem to be
selling in my price range, but still with high time engines. Is this about
right for these aircraft? Is a 10-15,000 hour airframe still safe to fly?
Thanks in advance for your reply. Thomas Brock

Hi Dan,
Are you too a night owl? I really appreciate your reply. I agree that I could
have an A&P rig up a dual stick control. As for the right plane, I bet I could
probably post to the list members and clubs about the kind of KR that I need.
What I would really love to have is a tricycle gear, Co
Thanks again everyone for all of your help. I know that I am getting
closer to buying my KR. It might just happen before Christmas, which is
what I've been shooting for. Just as I think I'm getting closer, I seem to
run into another snag. But your help has always seemed to provide the
right answers

Thanks to all of you veteran flyers and KR owners. I have a
much better picture of what is needed for my location. Thanks
to you, I was able to contact Bob Jennings in Anchorage,
Alaska. Not only do I have his e-mail, but I spoke with him on
the phone. I think he has agreed to "adopt" me as a futur
I hope this is not too naive a question, but here goes:
In my research, it seems that some very experienced pilots
have bought their FLYING KR airplanes and trailered them to
their home locations. Why would anyone want to disassemble the
wings, buy a trailer, and drive the airplane back home? Am I

Any ideas on this one? What would you do?
Thanks for all of your responses.

Hi everyone,
My name is Thomas Brock. I'm a kindergarten teacher living in
remote Alaska. After a 20 year delay due to family
circumstances, I want to finish my study toward a pilot's
license. I am looking to build student flying time toward my
license. I want to buy an aircraft
