Quoting myself in regards to Mark's mention of swivel feet. Some may ask, "Why
are swivel feet the ticket?"
I'll answer this since the reason they are important is because they relieve
pressure on the guides! When I took my heads off I found my guides
Hi Steve!
Looks like there's a lot of pent-up demand for Ellisons! Especially the
relatively rare EFS=2.
I hope things are going well. Sparky passed away about a month and a half ago
. . . you probably know.

OMG, is it really you? I wish I had enough time to fill in the gaps but I
doubt it would make any difference to you anyway. But I will address what you
brought up since I am here. First, yes I neglected to reinstall the blast tube
that Mark Jones installed after he had vapor lock issues. My
Craig, It’s pretty funny you still fail to acknowledge the fact that you
screwed up on your rebuild of the airplane and it was your poor building habits
that brought the airplane down not the Ellison as you remove a cooling plenum
that in your infinite wisdom you thought you didn’t need.

First I've heard of a vapor lock problem. Mine runs off a fuel pump so I
don't really see how it could. Maybe I'm not understanding something.
Thanks for the detailed response.
Steve Glover may yet get things together . . . one can always hope.

As always "your results may vary"
As most of you know the Ellison vapor lock issue is what brought me down in May
of 2019. After the rebuild I swore off TBI's and actually tried the MA3SPA
carb as recommended by WW and could not get the Corvair to run correctly. It
was always too rich. It al
MArk, thanks for the words on the Revmaster heads. I also had a
conversation with fellow KR2 and local Mike Warner who also recommended
Revmaster. So, I called Revmaster and had a long conversation with Joe.
Great conversation and he pointed out several of the improvements they made
including movin
I have a GPAS 2180 with a rayjay equipped (turbo normalized) manifold set.
Has anyone ever attempted using a trickle of high pressure cooled oil from
the output of the pool cooler to trickle "cooling oil" across the hotter
cylinder head components?
Heads have hot parts, cooled oil is available, w

I would not buy an Ellison. Even if you could they are no longer well
supported. I have the Rotec which is a Ellison copy with much needed
improvements. Having flown behind both I will say they work fine but have
their own advantages, quirks and limitations.

Ok, several cracks in my heads and really poor castings and pitting.
Who here can recommend a good set of heads for a 2180 VW ? I know Empi is
well known for street heads and there are so many variations put there Im a
bit confused as to exactly what heads to buy.

Mark,
Thanks, the purpose of my messages is to come back up to speed on subject
matter that I have not addressed in several months or years by discussing
what I know, what I think I know and what I don't know and what I need to
know.
I have never been happy with the Zenith carb and my concerns wi

In aviation use it's my observation that with correct leaning procedure and
using an Ellison, VW's should go 500 hours between head work. That head

To be clear, I use Curil-T as a sealant along the engine case half
adjoining surfaces, and other critical metal to metal surfaces where
there is no other gasket due to critical tolerances. That's what it's
made for. I use Permatex Ultra Silicone (comes in gray, black, or red)
