This is normal for an air cooled engine. Lycoming and Continental engines are
the same. When they are hot just after landing, they are very stiff and
difficult to pull through by hand. They loosen up as they cool down. As
previously mentioned, heat can also affect the starter ampli
Gary I’ve heard of the hot engine not wanting to crank.
But it was never the engine, it was the starter.
I’ve heard of a few Ford starters having this problem. I have not heard (
personally ) of a VW Starter having this issue.

I have flown the HAPI engine for many years and found it to be very

KR II design even more special.
