Hi Pilots,
My 52x44 wooden propeller took a FOD 'lickin' last weekend and lost..
I'll use it on my 1835cc Hapi VW engine powered KR2 N44774.
It needs a 4 in dia. bolt circle diameter for 6 each 5/16" UNF bolts. It
appears that the old bolt holes are a tad bigger than the 5/16" (maybe a
size P

I need to factor in a thrust offset or not ? Also what length mount are you
using ? The plans say 6 1/2 inches but I am thinking with a diehl case and
starter it will need to be longer. All thoughts appreciated ?Mark
Good for you wanting to do the "Pilot & Paws thing." I hope you continue
with that noble goal whatever you wind up with for an airplane.
As Larry said, your KR will need to be set up for single pilot operation.
You can devise a "baggage insert" behind your seat that will fit a small
dog crate.

And I forgot to mention the extremely high $$$ annuals.

Thanks, and I'm looking at them, but spam cans are like "the last
resort." Adequate utility, slower speeds, even lower fun rate.

You might look at some used Cessna 172s or similar which can be had
fairly cheaply these days. Not as cheap as a KR, for sure, but offer a
lot more utility in terms of CG and weig

Have you considered something like the Thatcher CX5 that has two seats
in tandem? You'd have to confirm the CG limits but may be a better

That's what the Challenger was for as it is tandem seating, too. Have
to look up a Thatcher.

That's not good news. I don't mind sitting in the middle but then I
couldn't do the Pilots&Paws thing.
Losing the weight? I'm more likely to win the lottery. Docs keep
pumping me with steroids. And even before that, it was impossible to
do.
Thanks for the info.

David,
I hope you don't shoot the messenger but a KR is not the airplane to
fit the needs you mentioned in your e-mail. Mark Langford's CG chart
is for a highly modified KR 2S with a 120 hp Corvair, larger tail
surfaces, etc..
At your weight, any KR you get would be a single place, flown se
One reason I am looking at the KR2-S is that my current plane is a
Challenger II. I have gained weight (for reasons beyond my control but
doesn't everyone say that?) and at 310 lbs sans clothing, I am way
beyond the spec for pilot in the CII, which is set at 250 lbs. So it is
for sale, too. :)
