what ball joint are builders using on ailerons hfe aurora ect? are most builders staying with stock elevator hinges or adding extra hinges? my wing is stripped to spars adding fuel tanks thinking about changing from raf 48 wing to as 5046. stub wings are finished raf 48 so they would have to be

One other concern I've heard is that cut threads are an opportunity for stress risers and aren't recommended for that reason. I'd either use an AN490 end or, like Bob Barrows does on his designs, weld a nut on each end of a 4130 tube as in the next to last photo on this page:
