Cases are going to crack. The VW engine was only intended to run down the road
at less than 50% power most of the time. In an aircraft, you ask a lot more of
it than it was ever designed to do. Even Continental and Lycoming have cases

If this is a pre 1973 case, its more prone. Post 1973, had a different
blend..more aluminum..but still prone to becoming brittle. Magnesium is that
way. Aluminum holds up better. Reply direct. What are the numbers on your case?
In Particular, the numbers under the generator riser.
