Curious if anyone has considered going with taller, narrower tires and wheels
as a way to gain more prop clearance while keeping the frontal area about the
same. I don't know of any in particular that are available, but thought maybe
someone has researched it.

Louis stopped overnight at my home airport KSQI (Whiteside County Airport,
Rock Falls, IL) on the way to OSH many years ago. I took some video of him
and the plane before and during departure for OSH. We marveled at the
beautiful workmanship on his KR. I remember that his exhaust system was

Back in the early 80's I had my first KR ramped here at KSEE while doing
some wing tank repair. While working on it one day, someone who had been
driving down the nearby road came running over to ask me all kinds of

The plastic wrap works great we have done it for years on model aircraft wings
to keep the oil out from the nitro fuel. I'm still flying planes that are 20+
years old and no signs of fuel soaking. I would only do one side at a time as
the silicone will dry quick by the time you get everything ti

My velocity has a removable hatch over the canard that would otherwise leak.
Since it isn't removed often a thin line of silicone is put on it to seal it
each time. That solution would make a lot of sense with the turtle deck since
it would not be something that you would open very often.

I like the idea of having the decks removeable but am concerned
with water ingress when the plane stands outside in the rain. Can those with
removeable decks comment on this and how it was overcome please.
